Parents of Reddit Share The Weirdest Stuff They've Caught Their Children Doing

Kids say and do some pretty weird things. It's just how they're built; they have no filter and not a care in the world. As they get older, they (hopefully) develop a sense of what's socially appropriate and what isn't, but until that happens, kids will be weird and wonderful kids, doing some pretty strange stuff in the process. A Reddit thread asking parents to share the weirdest things they've caught their children doing has revealed some hilariously strange confessions, some of the funniest are below for your viewing pleasure and amusement.

Parents Don't Realize Daughter Replaced Family Photos With Crayon Drawings

Everyone is trying to get through quarantine in their own ways, and for some, that means pranking the hell out of whoever you're living with. That's exactly what Massachusetts based designer Kristen Vogler did when she replaced her family photos with crayon drawings one by one for 11 days before her parents noticed anything.

Here is the hilarious progress below, including a video of her parents' reaction when they eventually realized what their daughter had been up to!

She documented the whole thing on Facebook, explaining that "I started poorly recreating the framed photos on our wall with top-notch art supplies, aka - a box of crayons. Every day I replaced a new photo with a new, and terrible, crayon drawing. Sneaking these masterpieces up was not easy, I had to hide in the bathroom clutching the frames multiple times. It took Paula Sassone Vogler and Mike Vogler 11 days to notice that anything had changed. I find that concerning 😂. I had a lot of fun messing with my parents during the downtime between Kristen Vogler Design projects. I hope you enjoy it, and if you know someone needing a mediocre crayon drawing, you know where to find me."

Instagram Of Illogical Excuses Kids Use For Not Eating Their Food

As if parenting wasn't hard enough, throw the world into lockdown and it's a whole different ballgame. Kids are cooped up inside with nowhere to let out their energy, which means tantrums are more likely to happen, especially when it comes to food. Children are picky eaters at the best of times. You know the drill... they ask you to make them something, and once it's ready after you've slaved away at it, they're no longer in the mood for it. Why? Who knows. My Kid Can't Eat This is an Instagram account that collects pictures of perfectly good food submitted by parents, along with the reasons their kids came up with for why it was not edible. All of them, of course, totally ridiculous. If they're not too triggering for you, take a look at some of our favorite ones below and see if you can relate!

Gf's Parents Enraged After BF Pretends Not To Know What A Potato Is

In a thread on Reddit's 'u/Today I F*cked Up', a man tells the hilarious story of what went down when he tried pranking his girlfriend's parents when meeting them for the first time, by pretending he didn't know what a potato was. Let's just say it didn't go as well as he'd hoped, which he makes clear by ending the thread with "I wish I never started it but I can't go back. I think she will break up with me anyway." The post might be a few years old, but this is one of the hidden gems of Reddit that we've stumbled across and we had to share it with you. We've also included some comments that people have given with helpful suggestions on how to salvage the situation. They are equally as awful!

You're welcome!

Using Pictures of Old Classical Art, Instagrammer Adds Relatable Captions of How Kids Can Be The Worst

An Instagram account called Kids Are The Worst was started by mom Anna Macfarlane, who is showing the not-so-glamorous side of being an insta-mom. Using the tagline "It's ok to laugh. You were the worst once, too", Anna shows that sometimes the only thing to do when your kids are being terrors is to just laugh, or else you'll probably cry. Using pictures of old classical art, she puts her own relatable captions on them, which will make all parents feel less alone in the wonderful journey that is parenthood.

And if you enjoy these, check out these moments that prove just how bizarre and stupid kids can be.

Tweets From Parents About The Nightmare Of Vacationing With Kids

This time of year makes it seem like winter will never end. It's cold, it's miserable and it's grey and summer seems like a world away. You're patiently counting down to your summer vacation, especially if you have kids. Because summer vacations are made up of those blissful moments where your perfectly behaved kids will accompany you sightseeing around Europe and won't complain once about leaving the hotel pool for just one goddamn day. Ok, we're exaggerating. They might have the odd tantrum here or there. Fine, if we're being honest, is it really even a vacation if your kids are with you? Sure, there are some fun moments, but you'll probably need another vacation right after it to recover.

These parents on Twitter managed to capture the all too relatable nightmare moments of traveling with kids, which will make you glad that it's not summer yet!

Parents Capture And Share The Brilliant Reasons For Their Toddler's Tantrums

Kids don't understand the world. To be fair, neither do most adults, but at least we are able to control our emotional responses when things upset us (which again, to be fair, even some adults struggle to do). But however nice it be to be able to have a full-blown tantrum every time we have a bad day or someone pisses us off, unfortunately, that's only a privilege that kids get. We have to put on a smile on our face and just get on with it.

A Facebook page called Reasons My Son Is Crying is a collection of the brilliantly funny and illogical reasons why kids have had tantrums, as captured and submitted by their parents. Here is a selection of some of the funniest reasons for their meltdowns and even though we feel sorry for these little ones, they've certainly given us five minutes of chuckles.

Brutally Honest Kid Quotes Overheard By Teachers And Parents

'Out of the mouth of babes' is a painful reality for most parents. But one of the best things about kids is their ability to call it as they see it, often leading to innocent but brutally honest comments after making an observation or being asked a question.

@livefromsnacktime is an Instagram account that documents these witticisms, started by NYC based Kindergarten teacher Alyssa Cowit. She believes that "children are honest and curious, and while often perplexed, they're brilliant – and that it's a teacher's job to take what children say seriously." Alyssa started the account — which now boasts 241k followers — "to help adults understand that children are not always acting outrageous to seek attention, but instead thinking out loud, soaking up new information, and solving problems 24/7!"

Check out the hilarious questions and comments made by hers and other teacher's students, who also submit to the account.

Parents Tweet Their Thoughts About Sesame Street

Sesame Street is a children's television series filled with great educational messages. And even though it debuted over 50 years ago, kids everywhere (and parents) still watch the beloved children's show.

And even though parents do watch it with their kids, many will say it is absolutely the ban of their existence. With those high-pitched character voices, songs that feel like someone is drilling into your ear-hole, and just nonstop confusing backstories.

Luckily, the parents of today have Twitter to express their true feelings. (Sorry parents of yesterday, we truly do feel your pain)
