We all know the Hallmark Christmas movie standard plot: big city girl tryna have it all has to go live in a small town right before Christmas, learns from the small-town folks to be happy with a simple life, falls in love with a down-to-earth local guy, and celebrates Christmas the way the Founding Fathers intended. By the end, she leaves her heathen, er, I mean, big-city life behind to stay in her new home for good. And it's great! Sometimes she goes somewhere besides a small town, but always somewhere outside her comfort zone where she can act lovably clueless so that her beau-of-the-people can roll his eyes and show her the RIGHT way to churn butter or whatever they do out there.

Sadly, as these ladies get humbled, so do their outfits. So let's take a look at how they look before they learn the true meaning of Christmas, and try to answer the age-old question: is happiness worth the boring clothes?

Hollywood has done us a disservice in the way they dramatize romance. Life isn't full of cute random men declaring their love for us or dancing in the street singing their hearts out about how they can't live without us. Alas, if only real life were a romantic comedy. But did you ever stop to think about just how messed up some of the things that Hollywood portrays as 'romantic' in movies are? If half of those things happened in real life—I'm talking about stopping weddings, breaking into people's houses to leave flowers, and casual stalking— then they would be creepy AF and probably lead to arrests. Here are some of the things that are romantic in movies but creepy in real life.

Back in the not-so-distant-past when movie theatres were open, there was nothing better than going to your local cinema with your gal pals on a Saturday night, armed with snacks to watch the latest rom-com. A big bucket of sweet and salty popcorn and two hours of Matthew McConaughey? Yes, please! But one thing that never failed to enhance our cinematic experience was the thrill of sneaking real food into the movie theatre and getting away with it. Whether it was a slice of pizza in our purse or a burrito up our sleeve, everything tasted better when we knew we'd snuck it past security. Twitter user @LocalSoundwave asked people to share the foods they've snuck into movie theatres, and the responses reveal just how daring people are. Oh, the guilty thrills of doing something wrong!

Disney and Pixar movies are notorious for having those naughty one-liners that totally go over children's heads and are aimed at adults instead. Those jokes that you look back on as an adult and wonder how on earth they made their way into a children's show. The ones that would destroy a child's innocence if they genuinely understood the innuendos that were slipped in (see what I did there?) between the lines. A Reddit thread asked people for the best sexual innuendos from a movie or television show they were blissfully unaware of as children, and the results will evoke horror, as you realize that all your childhood favorite movies are ruined forever.

There's a Twitter account that shows some of the funniest Amazon movie reviews, and it's one of the funniest things I've seen in a long time. Some people missed the movie's entire point, and some felt it necessary to write a review of the snack selection in the particular cinema they went to. Whatever the feedback, they're all hilarious. Remember the days when we could watch movies in the theater without a care in the world? Our biggest worry was which size popcorn to get (large obviously) or where to sit (back row, middle seats, duh). But those days are distant memories, and who knows when we'll be allowed back into theaters. We wouldn't even mind the obnoxious idiots who talk throughout the movie, or who have their phones on loud—just bring back normality, please! Joining us in movie theater nostalgia is writer Mike Ginn, who recently tweeted: "The thing I miss most about movie theaters is overhearing someone say the dumbest f—king thing I've ever heard before the previews start." His tweet went viral, and he received thousands of replies from people, all sharing the dumbest things they've overheard at the movies. What's yours?

Mr. Bean was one of those classic 'I don't know why this is funny, but it just is' shows. For a guy who barely spoke, he somehow managed to make everyone laugh, which is a particular skill that not many actors or comedians have. So how about a little reminder of how funny Mr. Bean was, with some pictures of his face photoshopped onto famous Hollywood characters, that someone somewhere had the ingenuity to create? Somehow these are almost as funny as watching him on TV, so my conclusion is that his humor is in his face. What do you think?

Russia is a weird place. Granted, it's on its way up, but communist and post-communist countries have a reputation for being pretty... drab. We're not saying it's the worst place in the world, but we're not saying it's Hollywood. And speaking of Hollywood, can you imagine how depressing it would be if all your favorite movies had been shot in the former USSR? Well, not you don't have to because someone has recreated a bunch of famous movie scenes as if they were filmed in Russia, and they're f*cking depressing. Scroll through and see what I mean.

Movies are about escapism - they're meant to take us away into a fantasy world, whether it's a cartoon, an action-thriller, a rom-com, or a horror movie. But even though it's not real, we still want to see plots that are somewhat believable, and sometimes, the producers just get it all wrong. People of Reddit are pointing out all the things are totally normal in movies, but never happens in real life and they've got us seeing movies all differently now.

Did you ever wonder what it would look like if Disney wasn't just limited to our favorite cartoon classics? Well, wonder no more, because German artist Alex Pick has reimagined some iconic Disney characters into popular movie posters and the results are breathtakingly realistic. Somehow he has managed to pick the perfect characters and make them believable as the modern-day actors for whose place they have taken. Disney fans everywhere are loving his work, which you can see on his Instagram page, but here is a selection of the best.

A Hungarian couple has kept themselves busy during quarantine by recreating famous movie scenes and they've totally nailed them! Fanni and Norbert have been finding things from around their house to make creative reenactments of their favorite movies and they're keeping themselves and the rest of the internet entertained. Lance Ford is the genius artist behind @brandnamefilms who is creating movie poster art like never seen before. That's because the movies don't actually exist; instead, they are a mashup of our favorite actors and some of the popular brands we love. Lance told one news outlet, "I love advertising and movies, and thought it would be fun to combine the two in an interesting way." Well, they're certainly interesting! If you've ever wondered what Jake Gyllenhaal looks like as The Energizer Bunny, or imagined Ryan Reynolds as the Pillsbury Dough Boy, this is your lucky day.
