Irish Teen Punished After Refusing To Have Her Culture Exploited In American High School

Moving from one school to another one is always a huge step. It's never fun to be the new kid. What's even harder is moving from one school to another one in a completely different country. Now, not only are you the new kid, but you're the new kid with a new accent and a new culture that you suddenly have to become the representative for.

Americans and foreigners have an interesting relationship. Firstly, a lot of Americans consider everyone to be a foreigner, even when they are living in their own country. Sometimes it can be difficult to move past stereotypes when trying to learn about someone else's background. It is a good thing to celebrate other people's cultures, and ask them questions with an open mind, but we need to understand that sometimes people just don't want to share.

Teen Reports Teacher For Ordering Her To 'Control Her Period' During Zoom Class

Having a period has always been something that holds women back since men are unable to fully understand how they work. For whatever reason, it is still a cringy topic to bring up and girls are still expected to hide their tampons in their sleeves as they excuse themselves from class.

For this teen though, that wasn't even an option. Even in Zoom High School, some teachers still refuse to let their kids 'leave' to go to the bathroom. I guess power-hungry teachers have found new ways to make their students' lives miserable. Refreshing, isn't it?

The 16-year-old eventually reported her teacher and realized that he may lose his job. Now she's asking if she's an A-hole on Reddit for potentially jeopardizing his career. What do you think?

Teen Reports Teacher For Ordering Her To 'Control Her Period'| thumbnail photo - AITA for reporting my teacher and potentially getting him fired? My (16f) school requires us to keep our cameras on during the entire class. If we need to use the restroom we are supposed to privately message our teacher and ask to leave. I have absolutely no issue with these rules as I understand that online teaching is hard and you have to make sure everyone is attentive during classes.

Teachers Unveil The New Trendy Cliques That Run High Schools Today

The trends are constantly changing and, whether we like to admit it or not, it is the youths who decide what is in and what is out. In middle and high school you can see the trends directly manifested into friend groups, and it is only natural that those groups are ever-changing. Some cliques remain forever, like stoners and nerds, but many other styles, like emo, scene, and punk can only be found in 90's coming-of-age movies or in expensive 'vintage' shops residing in gentrified neighborhoods. Only those who have the budget have the power to revive them.

If you're also curious about what trends divide the youths today this Reddit thread has got you covered.

Teachers Unveil Times Students Had Obvious Crushes On Them

Everyone has had a crush on a teacher or professor at one point. It's inevitable. However, have you ever really thought about whether the teacher can tell, and if they can... how do they deal with it? Are they flattered and play along with it? Or do they try to straight-up ignore it?

I suppose it depends on the age of the student, and how extreme the crush is. It's not the kind of thing a teacher would want to get out of hand. Still, I bet there are some wholesome and hilarious stories out there.

People Confess Their Most Inappropriate Crushes

Crushes are harmless, right? I mean, if someone is genuinely interested in pursuing things with someone would they still refer to them as their 'crush'? It was definitely a phrase that was passed around much more often in grade school. But I suppose adults still get crushes, and then the only difference is they can actually marry their crush, like even that day if they were feeling it.

People Reveal The Strangest Lies Their Parents Told Them

Let's be honest, children ask too many questions. It's a beautiful thing how creative they are, but it can also get freaking annoying to explain every single thing in the world to them. If you get them down the "why" train you'll never be able to escape.

"Mommy, why can't I go outside?"

"Because it's freezing"

 "Why?"

"Because temperature is under 30 degrees"

"Why?"

"Because it's winter"

"Why?"

"Because we're in the northern hemisphere of Earth"

"Why"

"AHHHHHHHHHHH"

Sometimes it's just easier to throw in a white lie.

People Share The Almost Unbelievable Reasons Their Teachers Got Fired

Students usually remember teachers for one of two reasons: they were either excellent or terrible. The great teachers do more than teach their subject; they believe in their students, give them life skills, and inspire them to be the best versions of themselves. The inadequate teachers do just the opposite and can cause irreparable damage to the confidence and growth of a student who may be struggling. And then you have the teachers who are SO bad that they got fired. Whether it's for sleeping with a student or embezzling school money, there's always one who thinks they'll get away with it. An AskReddit thread has got people sharing the reasons their teachers were fired, and the responses are so shockingly sad, it's a wonder how they even qualified to become teachers in the first place.

Dad Trolled After Tweeting About His 'Smart' Home-Schooled Kids

Every parent thinks their children are the smartest, the cutest, and the overall best humans on the entire planet. And ironically, bragging parents are among the worst people on the entire planet and they all need to be shipped to an island somewhere where they can fight to the death over whose child can recite the alphabet backward before even being born. One father took to Twitter to brag about his children's intelligence, slam the public school system, and promote his new book. Needless to say, it didn't go down very well with other parents or teachers. Follow below to see how he was mercilessly trolled.

Sex-Ed Horror Stories From Teachers And Students

Everyone remembers their sex-ed in school. Or, in some people's cases, their lack thereof. Whether it consisted of your PE teacher awkwardly putting a condom on a banana or your biology teacher told you that sexual contact of any kind was a sin that you'll burn in hell for, I'm betting it was pretty uncomfortable. These real, sex-ed horror stories from students and teachers show how painfully awkward the topic is and how badly schools can f*ck it up when it comes to teaching teir students about such an important topic.

One was about average penis size. This was in the early 90s, so that wasn't something we could just google. The sex ed teacher, who was highly trained at coaching football but probably not at sex ed, told us "between 7 and 9 inches." Probably every guy nervously glanced around the room and tried

Tattletales are an inevitable part of working with children, but sometimes teachers are presented with simply ridiculous scenarios. A Reddit thread asking teachers for the stupidest reasons a kid has told on someone else will provide you with endless entertainment and make you feel sorry for the teachers who had to mediate the scenarios these kids presented to them. Teachers Who Have Less Chill In Online Classes Than IRL

School might be closed, but for many, classes are continuing online. There are some teachers who are nailing the whole online class thing and others... well, not so much. These students have taken to Twitter to vent about the teachers who are far stricter online than they are in the classroom, proving that online teaching just isn't for everyone.

Cool Teachers Who Make School Look Awesome

The difference between a positive and a less than ideal school experience is often down to the teacher you have. A subject that is usually deathly boring (maths anyone?) can be brought to life by an enthusiastic teacher, and make their students love the subject. We've found some teachers who certainly have that passion and we only wish we had teachers like when we were in school.

Brutally Honest And Funny Kid Quotes Overheard By Teachers And Parents

'Out of the mouth of babes' is a painful reality for most parents. But one of the best things about kids is their ability to call it as they see it, often leading to innocent but brutally honest comments after making an observation or being asked a question.

@livefromsnacktime is an Instagram account that documents these witticisms, started by NYC based Kindergarten teacher Alyssa Cowit. She believes that "children are honest and curious, and while often perplexed, they're brilliant – and that it's a teacher's job to take what children say seriously." Alyssa started the account — which now boasts 241k followers — "to help adults understand that children are not always acting outrageous to seek attention, but instead thinking out loud, soaking up new information, and solving problems 24/7!"

Check out the hilarious questions and comments made by hers and other teacher's students, who also submit to the account.
