What's the best part of a romantic comedy? If you said "the big kiss at the end," you're an idiot who is so wrong. No, the best part of a rom-com comes in the middle when our feisty leading lady finds a purpose or decides to get her life together and 👏 focus 👏 on 👏 herself! Sure, the brief self-actualization and confidence boost pales in comparison to the delirious happiness she gets from the man who makes an honest woman of her, but how would we KNOW she couldn't be happy without him if she didn't try? Hollywood has done us a disservice in the way they dramatize romance. Life isn't full of cute random men declaring their love for us or dancing in the street singing their hearts out about how they can't live without us. Alas, if only real life were a romantic comedy.
