Women Debate How They Feel About Male Gynecologists

We've talked about the awkwardness of gyno appointments before, but the gender of the doc has never come up before. We uncovered a 6-year old Reddit thread about women's preferences when it comes to the gender of their lady doc, and the women of Reddit seem to have different opinions on the matter. Personally, I don't think the gender of the doctor should matter as long as they're skilled and professional, but I guess everyone is entitled to their own preference. Check out what the ladies of Reddit had to say below.

Reddit thread about male gynos | thumbnail text - PinkleopardPJ · 6y I give exactly zero fucks. My OB who I had when I was pregnant with my son was male, and he's awesome. He's won all kinds of awards for being one of the best OBGYNS in the state. I've never felt uncomfortable or anything. Awkward Comments Made By Gyno's Which Cannot Be Forgotten

As every woman knows, a visit to the gynecologist can be a little awkward. Even if your doctor is super friendly and puts you at ease, there's something about having a stranger being fist (or speculum) deep in your vagina that puts you slightly on edge. Depending on their approach, sometimes, gynecologists try to make things less awkward by making small talk during their examination, which, ironically, can make things even worse. These women shared the awkward things their gynecologists said to them, and all I'll say is, peering inside someone's vagina is not the time or place to crack jokes.
