Seemingly Harmless Everyday Things That Scream 'Sexism'

It can be worrying how deeply embedded sexism is in our everyday lives. Sometimes misogynistic norms can become so accepted that we forget to question them. A lot of women are confronted with these contradictions when they are asked something like, "Why do you shave your legs in the winter? Or really, at all?" A lot of us subscribe to the notion that we just feel more comfortable or cleaner when we have smooth legs, but how much of that is true? If we had grown up in an alternate universe where nobody put a razor on their skin, and women in films were au naturel, would we still want to shave it all off?

On Reddit, women are sharing seemingly harmless things that are really sexist, this thread may make you reconsider why you have made certain choices in your life.

Weekly Dose Of Mansplaining Tweets (April 14, 2021)

Mansplaining has become a completely routine part of life. To be fair it has always been around, but the only difference now is that women have become empowered to call men out on it. And boy does it feel good to tell a dude he is mansplaining. A man's view on the concept of 'mansplaining' can be very telling of how woke he really is. If you call him out and he says, "Oops, my bad," there's still hope, but if he hits you with the, "There should be woMANsplaining too," Run.

Here are the most iconic mansplaining Tweets we saw this week.

Weekly Dose Of Mansplaining Tweets (April 6, 2021)

Mansplaining is an ongoing phenomenon that is apparently highly contagious. People as young as 3 have apparently been caught mansplaining. I don't know about you but this is slightly worrying to me. But what is even scarier is to imagine a world without mansplaining. Oof, the thought of it gives me shivers. How would women develop thoughts without men mansplaining every single thing to them? What's the point? Women would be so lost, so vulnerable.

No worries though, mansplaining isn't going anywhere anytime soon. So for now, let's just enjoy these ridiculous tweets from people who have given up giving af about it.

People Who Made Their Parents Want To Return Them

Half of our job as children is to disappoint our parents. It's in our nature, what better is there a way to show them that we love them? We simply need to make embarrassing mistakes so that when we don't severely f**k something up, they can be proud! Do you see? Genius. This is what growing up is all about. Life is much more bearable when you realize that your parents are just people who decided to get down and dirty and bring more people into this world. There are definitely some boundaries that I prefer to keep with my parents, but they definitely get crossed on the regular. Oh well.

If you've ever thought to yourself, "Damn, I'm a disappointment," you might relate to these Tweets.

Weekly Dose Of Mansplaining Tweets (March 31, 2021)

Ah mansplainers, they always show up when they're least expected, or really rather when they're least wanted. It's amazing how 'mansplain' has fully been accepted and incorporated into the general lexicon of most generations (yep, even my dad asks me sometimes, 'Hey, was that mansplaining?'), yet it is still a huge issue that continues to drive people crazy all over the world. I guess defining an issue doesn't end the issue. Good to know... Seriously though, these men can be ruthless, they will mansplain your own name to you, they don't give a f**k.

At least we have Twitter, where survivors of mansplaining instances can come together and roast these relentless men who really had the audacity.

Female Scientist Invites Mansplainers To Gaslight Her On Twitter

It must be so rewarding to go through 5+ years of university, become an expert in a topic, receive your PhD, all that jazz, and then still continue to get gaslighted by people who know literally nothing about anything. I don't know how these people keep their cool. I guess just knowing that you are extremely intelligent is enough to allow you to resist the urge to explode all over them. Plus, exploding won't change anything, mansplainers are always going to mansplain. We must accept it, it's truly in their nature.

Perhaps the best tactic is just to laugh at them. And what better place than on Twitter?

Weekly Dose Of Funniest Mansplaining Tweets (March 24, 2021)

Being a woman, we have to deal with a lot of BS. We know that there are men out there who will take one look at us and be unable to hold themselves back from mansplaining the most obscure sh*t to us, and we basically just have to take it. If we try to clap back, their fragile egos might not be able to take it.

Now that I think of it, a good question to measure who will be a good mate could be: What are your thoughts on mansplaining?

Their answer will say a lot. *Warning though, they may mansplain mansplaining to you.

These weekly mansplaining Tweets really show how many women had their patience tested this past week. Stay strong girlies. Our cute little brains probably can't take much more.

Fourteen Times 'Nice' Guys Fully Committed To Being Trash

Don't y'all just feel so bad for all the nice guys out there! They seem to have the hardest lives ever. They wake up, brush their teeth, feed the homeless, rescue a puppy, and then get screwed over by evil women. It's quite the lifestyle. No wonder they always finish last, they're too busy being amazing!

But, seriously why is it always the guys who complain about being nice that aren't actually nice at all. The whole, 'Pity me, girls aren't attracted to me even though I respond to all their polls on Insta' is getting really old. Also PSA: Nice is not a personality trait, so maybe find something else that makes you special.

People Reveal What Screams 'I'm Very Insecure'

Most of us are insecure at some point in our lives. Or we have things about ourselves that we wish we could change. It's totally normal. What varies from person to person is how we choose to deal with our insecurities. Do we avoid the topic, or do we exclaim the opposite? Either way, it usually doesn't take a genius to notice that someone is covering up insecurity. Just like most things, there are definitely some tell-tale signs.

Woman Vents About How She Is Done With Expecting Guys To Make The First Move

There are a lot of expectations for men and women when it comes to love. Men are meant to chase and women are supposed to sit and wait for their prince charming to rescue them or whatever. Sorry, I can't take this seriously because it just sounds so old-fashioned and boring. How can a woman ensure that the guy she likes knows that she likes him? Reverse psychology? Reverse reverse psychology? It just seems like a big waste of time to wait for a guy to make the move every time.

One woman took to Reddit to vent about how displeased she is with this system and how she doesn't believe it benefits either gender.

Weekly Dose Of Mansplaining Tweets (March 17, 2021)

It's amazing how so many things are continuously progressing and changing, especially during these trying times, yet men still have the audacity to mansplain. It's honestly a talent, the complete disregard for female intelligence and patience. I suppose it's the way they're raised, but why would somebody try to raise a know-it-all?

It's important to note that we girls do not think that all men are serial mansplainers, though if they reject the existence of 'mansplaining,' it's a definite red flag. These tweets definitely capitalize on that.

Twitter Responds To Female Australian MP Getting Blatantly Mansplained To On Live TV

Kate Thwaites, a member of the Australian Parliament, went on ABC tv to talk about the significance of #March4justice. March 4 Justice was an organized movement in Australia that brought tens of thousands of people together to march and protest against the sexual abuse and harassment of women in the country. As Thwaites was sharing her support for the movement on TV, Morrison Government Senator Ben Small continuously spoke over her, basically proving Thwaites' point about why such female-empowerment movements need to take place. Tsk tsk.

Thwaites shared her frustrating experience on Twitter only hours ago, and it has already blown up. Just like Thwaites did in the interview, Twitter is disappointed but not surprised.

Women Uncover The Creepiest Things Their Bosses Actually Said To Them

Power can go to someone's head very quickly. You realize people are doing things for you, sometimes even if you don't even ask, and then you start to tell yourself, "Hey, I must be a pretty important person, I don't have to treat people with respect anymore, dope!" Well, for everyone working 'underneath' you... It sucks. It's so hard because unless somebody plans to quit, they can just tell their boss to screw off. Boy, would it feel good though. Only in my dreams.

Fifteen Relatable Tweets For People Who Low-Key Miss Being Unemployed

These are very tough times, and anyone lucky enough to be employed has a lot to be grateful for. However, it is hard to get motivated sometimes, and then we fantasize about the days when we had no money but all the time in the world to do stuff like keep up with TV series, and paint our nails. I guess the grass is always greener, it seems that way, doesn't it?

Anyway, for anyone losing copious amounts of steam at work, you will definitely find these tweets to be relatable AF.

Outrage After Male Teacher Sends Teen Home Due To 'Distracting' Turtleneck Dress Combo

There has always been a double-standard for girls and boys when it comes to dress-codes. In every student handbook, there are about ten pages reserved for girls: No bra straps showing, no skirts above the pinky finger, no collarbones, no leggings, no backs showing — I could easily go on for several paragraphs.

When you finally get to the boy section: No swear words on shirts, no hats... and that's basically the extent of it.

I was under the impression that school systems were changing and people were finally understanding how unfair it is to put the responsibility on the girls to make sure the boys don't get 'distracted.' But apparently we're still not there yet. And, apparently, it's not just the students who find it distracting. Ew.

Cringy Tweets About Mansplaining, Reminding Men To Take It Down A Notch

It just feels fitting that during International Women's Month we honor the women who have had to sit through cringy mansplaining experiences. I don't know how they do it. Oh, wait, just kidding I do, because I'm a woman too, and I'm well aware that we get mansplained to nearly every day of our lives. One way to get through it (besides reminding yourself that mansplainers are trash), is to share the experience on Twitter. A safe space, where women can roast men free-ly, and then they get butt-hurt, and we literally couldn't care less.
